Description

Swashbuckling combatants in the heat of a summer pennant race, (27) members of the 1963 Pittsburgh Pirates signed this ONL Giles baseball. The gorgeous clean and creamy orb (grade 8-9) is decorated with ballpoint pennings that average (7-8) strength, with highlights including: Burgess, Clemente, Face, Friend, Haddix, Stargell, Veale and Virdon. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.

Sweet Spot Murtaugh (clubhouse); North Panel Oceak (coach), Friend, Burgess, Francis (4 strength), Savage, Bailey, Face and Baker (coach); South Panel Veale, Sisk, Osborn (coach), Schofield, Virdon and Clemente; West Panel Trucks (coach), Lynch, McBean, Stargell, Brand, Schwall, Pagliaroni and Elliott; East Panel Law, Cardwell, Haddix, Logan and Gibbon.

On the lower portion of the south panel, a handwritten notation reads 6-16-63. While the Bucs prevailed that day in extra innings, the win only temporarily stemmed a 10-17 June swoon that left the Bucs under .500 for good.
