Description

As hope sprung eternal in 1937, (19) members of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox assembled and signed this ONL Frick baseball, likely at either the Bucs’ San Bernardino site or the Sox’ Pasadena-based camp. The creamy orb (grade “6”) features black ink fountain pen signatures that average (“6-7”) strength. Highlights include: Appling, Blanton (d.1945), Hoyt, Traynor, Vaughan, H. Wagner, L. Waner and P. Waner. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.

North Panel Cy Blanton (d.1945), Red Kress (likely a spring training invitee, as he was between stints with the Washington Senators and St. Louis Browns), Paul Waner, Bill Swift and Luke Appling; South Panel Luke Sewell, Johnny Dickshot, Arky Vaughan, Jim Weaver and Mace Brown; West Panel Waite Hoyt, Zeke Bonura and Bill Hinchman (coach); East Panel John Gooch (coach), Lloyd Waner, Honus Wagner (coach), Jimmie Dykes, Pie Traynor (manager) and Al Todd.
