With eyes gazing skyward in an unorthodox delivery, southpaw Fernando Valenzuela made an immediate impression, garnering Rookie of the Year and Cy Young laurels as he helped guide the 1981 Dodgers to their first title in 16 years. This early-1980s Los Angeles Dodgers warm-up jacket was worn by the Mexican-born phenom as “Fernandomania” raged at Chavez Ravine. The blue satin-like zippered garment features “Dodgers” angled across the chest in white twill and “VALENZUELA” arched atop the back in like fashion. Blue-and-white striped stretch ribbed knit lines the 3-1/2”-wide collar, waistline and sleeve endings, while a hanger and “W.A. Goodman & Sons” size “44” label are situated within the fur-lined collar. All original and unaltered, this “Dodger Blue” gamer hails from a memorable era in the club’s storied history.
