Issued in 1974 by the Franklin Mint in anticipation of the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial, this fascinating medal collection commemorates the “Great Women of the American Revolution”. Commissioned by the Daughters of the American Revolution in a limited edition of less than 1,000 specimens each of the exquisitely engraved pewter medallions depicts a woman who played an important role in the fight against British Royalist forces. The obverses portray these patriots in action and the reverses describe their roles. This collection is housed in a stately blue album and includes (35/36) possible medals all presenting nice, original high relief details, with only the Mary Videau piece being absent.
