Comedic icon Larry Fine (d.1975) is the endorser of the offered single-page letter (with envelope). The neatly inscribed correspondence details Fines’ troubles including a stroke. The nearly 8x6 ephemera displays (“8-9”) strength and clarity. Also present is an elusive 1976 hardbound book entitled Stroke of Luck by Carrone (third edition). Published by Siena Publishing of Hollywood, Fines' triumphs and travails are explored in the 293-page volume. Auction LOA from JSA. More on our website.
The full text of the letter reads:
I’m trying to answer all my fan mail, although I had a severe stroke, which left me partially paralyzed, but as I wrote you, I’m answering as many questions as I possibly can. I had legal troubles with by book, but it should be out soon, and it contains the answers to all your questions I’m sure. The recent edition out here of the ‘Enquirer’, has a full page picture on the cover of Bud Abbot, with the story he is dying of cancer. I’m truly sorry, as I like Bud very much. He is not as this hospital, and the story doesn’t give his address. Here is where you can write to: Moe Howard P.O. Box 69785 Los Angeles, 90069
